Honduras, located in Central America, is the 2nd largest nation in the region and it was previously known as Spanish Honduras. It is a member of the World Trade Organization. The economy of Honduras is agriculture based. Chief crops of the country include beans, corn, rice and citrus. Key export crops are bananas, coffee beans, tobacco and sugarcane. There is not an abundance of mineral resources in the country, but limited resources include silver, gold, lead, zinc, iron, antimony, mercury and copper. Fishing industry is still in the development phase. Main industries of the country include sugar, textiles, coffee, clothing and wood products. |
